She has been self-employed as a labor arbitrator and mediator for the past sixteen years and works, primarily, in the midwest. In addition, she occasionally teaches courses in public sector collective bargaining at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse and presents workshops in collective bargaining, arbitration procedures and contract administration for the American Arbitration Association and others. Professionally, she serves on the board of directors of the National Academy of Arbitrators and has recently been active in the Industrial Relations Research Association.

Sharon has also been an active volunteer in her community serving on many organizational boards, including that of the Lutheran Hospital Foundation and the Congregational Church. Since 1987, Sharon has been a member in the Rotary Club of LaCrosse. There in addition to working on several committees, she was honored by her club as a Paul Harris Fellow. Two years ago, for her club's 75th anniversary, she organized the construction of a community-built playground, now know as Kids Coulee. At the district level, Sharon has chaired the Rotary Volunteers in Action Project Committee and the Community Service Award Committee. Last year, she served as a Governor's Representative and was on the District Long Range Planning Committee.

Sharon and her husband, Roger, married thirty-three years, have two sons, one of whom is married and a granddaughter. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, playing tennis, reading, doing needlepoint, and growing orchids.
